Inserting an image in MorningAI used to mean stopping what you were doing and going somewhere else. Not anymore. The new global Insert Image Modal gives you one consistent way to add an image to any document, post, brief, or studio canvas — pulling from your Asset Library, your computer, Unsplash, or generating something new on the spot.
What Changed
The Insert Image experience is now a single global modal you can trigger from anywhere in MorningAI. Whether you are inside Studio, the Scheduler, a brief, or a chat, the same modal opens with the same five sources and the same upload behavior. Once you learn it once, you know it everywhere.
How to Open the Insert Image Modal
You can open the modal from any of these surfaces:
- Click the Insert Image button in the Studio toolbar.
- Right-click on any canvas slot and choose Insert Image.
- Press the / key in any text field that supports rich content and select Image.
- Drag a file directly onto a canvas — the modal opens at the Upload tab pre-loaded with that file.
The Five Sources
The modal has five tabs across the top, each surfacing a different source:
- Asset Library — every image you have ever uploaded, generated, or saved in MorningAI, scoped to the active brand. Filter by collection, search by tag, or browse by recency.
- Upload — drop files from your computer. Multiple files at once are supported.
- Generate with AI — type a prompt and generate a new image directly inside the modal. Uses the active brand's BrandDNA visual style by default.
- Unsplash — search the full Unsplash library and insert royalty-free photos.
- URL — paste an image URL to fetch and insert.
Asset Library Integration
The Asset Library tab is the most important upgrade. Every image you upload or generate in MorningAI now flows through it automatically. That means:
- You never have to "find that image I made last week" again — it is in the Library, scoped to the right brand, with metadata you can search by.
- You can favorite images, organize them into collections, and add tags.
- Inserting a previously used image takes two clicks — open modal, click image. No re-upload, no re-generation.
To open the standalone Asset Library outside of an insert flow, click Asset Library in the sidebar.
Step-by-Step: Inserting from Each Source

- Drag files from Finder or Explorer into the drop zone, or click to browse.
- The image uploads, lands in your Asset Library automatically, and inserts.

From a URL:

- Paste the image URL and click Fetch. Confirm the preview and insert.
Pro Tips
Tag as you upload. A two-second tag at upload time saves a thirty-second search later. Tag by campaign, season, or product line.
Use collections for active campaigns. Spin up a collection for the campaign you are working on, then insert from that collection only. Keeps the working set small and focused.
Generate inside the modal, not in Studio. When you only need one image for a specific spot, generating inside the Insert modal is faster than opening a full Studio session.
Use Unsplash for filler, not heroes. Unsplash is great for utility imagery (backgrounds, supporting shots). Generated or owned brand imagery should carry the campaign.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do generated images go? Straight into your Asset Library, tagged with the prompt and the date. You can find them later by searching for any word from the original prompt.
Can I insert the same image into multiple documents? Yes. The modal does not "consume" assets. Insert from the Library as many times as you like.
Is there a size limit on uploads? 50 MB per file. Use compressed JPEG or WebP for faster upload and consistent rendering.
Does the modal work in mobile? Yes. The Generate and Upload tabs are touch-optimized.
